Before joining Esperanza, Jose gained experience across a wide range of social work settings, from providing traditional individual, family, and group therapy to working in case management and crisis intervention. Born in Mexico and raised in the United States from a young age, Jose was inspired to join Esperanza by a strong desire to serve the very community he identifies with. He recognized the urgent need for behavioral health services within this population and was drawn to Esperanza’s commitment to providing compassionate, community-centered care. Jose completed his undergraduate studies at Northeastern Illinois University and earned his graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Jane Addams College of Social Work. Professionally, he is passionate about pursuing learning opportunities that empower his patients to overcome challenges and build fulfilling lives. In his free time, Jose enjoys all things fútbol—both playing and watching—along with spending quality time with his wife, son, family, and friends. A true foodie, he’s always on the hunt for new spots to try across Chicago.
